Curriculum

TKC BABIES
From birth, babies are busy, active learners, investigating the sights, sounds, and feel of the world. They explore the world with their senses when developing motor skills. Long before they understand a concept like "under" or "far" with their minds, their bodies are learning to navigate the up and down, over and under of the physical world: their perceptions are sorting out sizes, colours, and shapes.

At TKC we provide babies and toddlers with what they need: a safe world, rich with opportunities to actively explore, with books, songs, and a lot of listening and responding to their vocalisations and words.

TKC TODDLERS
As a toddler. Two year-olds are moving from the dependence of babyhood to the more independent, mobile world of toddling and preschool. At this age children are exploring their powers to move purposely, to communicate, to assert their independence and individuality, and to control their important bodily functions.

TKC provide the manageable challenges and relaxed environment that two to three year olds need to support this phase of their development. Staff understand the frequent changes in moods, interests, and capabilities and provide calm, consistent care and supportive teaching.

EYFS

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS 2017) supports learning and development of children aged from birth to five years. TKC child-led philosophy, allow children to learn at their own pace, in their own special way.

The EYFS 2017 principles form the basis of TKC developmental planning, which is grouped into four themes:
  • A unique child
  • Positive Relationships
  • Enabling environments
  • Learning and development
At TKC development planning involves activities that encourage children to learn as they play, developing their skills in early communication, language, literacy and maths as they wish.

TKC day nurseries are well-resourced and the children have access to: messy play (water, sand, paint, malleable materials), technology, sensory play and imaginative play, story corner and library– to name a few! Children also have free access to the outdoor area, to play and explore and much more.

TKC Partnership

TKC respect, value and understand the contribution of the parent/carer to the child’s learning and believe we share with parents a joint interest in, and responsibility for, children’s development and learning. Children feel positive and more confident about themselves and their learning when TKC staff, parents and other carers work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

To help build these partnerships TKC use several modes of communication including online learning journals, parent consultations and termly progress meetings, TKC News (please see below), social media updates and regular nursery events. In addition, there are also ongoing discussions with the nursery management and your child’s Key Worker.

TKC Parent Pack
Once your child has registered with TKC, you will be given a parent pack which contains lots more information about nursery life at TKC.
